TCL acquires business with Royal Warrant

TCL has acquired a long established family business with a solid pedigree in grounds maintenance, enabling it to expand into new sectors and extend its geographical reach.

Surrey based G Burley and Sons Limited (Burleys), one of the largest independent full service grounds maintenance companies in the UK, has been providing amenity horticulture, arboriculture and hard and soft landscaping to public sector clients such as local authorities and health trusts, historic buildings, charitable trusts, independent and state schools, building contractors and other blue chip companies across the south east since 1951.

The company has held a coveted Royal Warrant since 2005, following contracts undertaken over a number of years for the Royal Household.

TCL MD Simon Cashmore explained: “Burleys is a business with an incredible pedigree and a superb reputation and its acquisition presents a first class opportunity to build relationships with new sectors and provide further opportunities for TCL’s existing service propositions.

“We are now able to offer additional services to these clients, such as play area installation, fabric repair and maintenance, landscape consultancy and design.”

CEO Giles Burley and MD Richard Burton will join the executive management team of TCL.

Giles Burley added: “Finding a new home for a third generation family-owned business is incredibly hard, but I’m confident we’ve picked the right partner in TCL. From a very early stage it was evident that TCL’s values are absolutely consistent with those of Burleys and that they have the same insatiable appetite for delivering exceptional customer service. I am looking forward to working with the group and continuing to build the Burleys business.”
