Royal Warrant holder Burleys has carried out the latest of many projects for JLL as part of its ongoing grounds maintenance partnership with the global property services consultancy.
The work saw some of the Burleys team assess a rooftop wildflower garden on a building recently taken into the JLL property portfolio in central London.
The building was not in the best physical state when JLL took over the site, so Burleys was called in to help maintain it and get the roof back into tiptop shape to attract wildlife and make it enjoyable for the tenants.
The project is one of numerous activities undertaken by Burleys for JLL across the UK.
In fact, JLL called in the grounds maintenance specialist earlier in the year to trial its ground-breaking eco-friendly weedkilling system Foamstream at one of its office developments.
Burleys is one of the first companies in the UK to use the award-winning system which is approved by the Soil Association and uses a combination of hot water, steam and natural foam to ‘cook’ weeds and kill them.
It also contains a wetting agent which enables the thermal energy to penetrate the weeds’ waxy exterior walls and rupture the cells.
The organic, biodegradable foam mixture is safe to use near children’s playgrounds, animals and watercourses.
An unexpected bonus is that the foam can also be used for a variety of street cleaning tasks including chewing gum removal from pavements, graffiti elimination and power washing – allowing the machine to be used all year round.
The foam is made from a blend of natural plant oils and sugars including maize, wheat, potatoes, rapeseed and coconut oils.
