Burleys helps fund Santa’s charity exploits

Santa has been given a financial helping hand this year – courtesy of Burleys.

Don’t tell anyone, but contract supervisor Daniel Cooper from the Bicester office stands in for Father Christmas when he’s busy elsewhere, travelling around the area in one of his spare sleighs with fellow volunteers at Bicester Round Table.

And his travels are being supported by Burleys as part of their commitment to helping organisations in the local community.

Daniel explained: “It’s through the kindness and support of businesses like Burleys that we are able to give 100% of the money we raise back to local charities, groups and people in need.”

Daniel will be out over the Christmas period with Santa and the sleigh for at least 15 evenings, straight after work until 9:30pm. In total he will walk around 30 to 40 miles collecting and handing out sweets, spend 20 miles towing the sleigh, 10 miles (more than five hours) dressed as Santa greeting children and will then spend eight hours counting around £7,000 in mainly 1p and 2p coins!

“While it’s all very hard work and can be exhausting, it’s all worth it knowing how much good the money we raise can do for the people of Bicester,” he said.
