‘Big smile’ and going the extra mile win awards for Burleys pair

Two Burleys colleagues at the Chapel Brampton site in Northamptonshire have won employee awards for their dedication and enthusiasm at work.

Angus Baird and Adam Welling were presented with gift vouchers and an award certificate by group operations director Michelle Maybury.

Angus, a former baker who started at Burleys just over a year ago, won the Best Newcomer award for his enthusiasm and hard work on the Spire Homes contract.

Burleys contract manager Alan Wadsworth explained: “I’m so glad I took a leap of faith in employing him. He was very chatty and had a big smile from start to finish, so we took him on due to his enthusiasm.

“Every morning come rain, sleet, snow or sunshine he always without fail has the biggest smile on his face which always makes you feel good about yourself. If only all young ones of today had this attitude to work!”

Since joining, Angus has also earned a good driving award and passed a first aid and a spraying course and is due to receive his trailer licence.

Adam Welling, who also works on the Spire Homes contract, was awarded the title Best Overall Employee.

He has earned the praise of Spire Homes service contact manager Meg Sanger for whom he has worked on designing and installing new flowerbeds and a sensory garden, site regeneration and installing fencing.

Alan explained: “He deserves this award due to going that extra mile for clients and the team to produce quality workmanship.”
