The tcl group has backed a call by Smartnewhomes.com and Redrow Homes for the government to release more land for family homes.
According to Smart New Homes figures, in the last 12 months the number of available new build family homes fell 20% from 595 in February 2009 to 476 in February this year.
tcl, which specialises in creating natural play areas on new developments for many of the UK’s leading housebuilders through its company Admiral Play, agreed with their call for planners to be aware of long term stock shortages and work with local authorities to free up public land for family housing.
The developers fear Conservative party proposals to do away with regional housebuilding targets and a lack of viable development land threaten further reductions in the availability of family homes.
